International Holocaust Remembrance Day
The International Holocaust Remembrance Day, also known as the International Day in Memory of the Victims of the Holocaust, is a globally recognised memorial day. With the genocide of one third of the Jewish people, the day commemorates these victims of the Holocaust as well as the numerous other minorities living in Nazi Germany. The date, January 27th, was chosen as it marks the liberation of the Auschwitz concentration camp by the Red Army in 1945.
