National Day – Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe’s National Day celebrates the freedom, unity and strength of the Zimbabwean people, who have overcome great obstacles in their history.  Zimbabwe is a country in Southern Africa with a rich cultural heritage. With many famous attractions and diverse landscapes like Victoria Falls, it contains much of the world’s natural beauty.

Music plays a significant role in Zimbabwe’s culture. Cultural Infusion offers a program in Western Australia that demonstrates the instrument Mbira. Mbira of Zimbabwe uses music, language and singing to explore the traditional instrument. Having been used for more than a thousand years, George Joe introduces its origins and history. With traditional songs in the Shona language, students participate in an immersive experience to learn about Zimbabwean culture.
