Cuddly Bear were lucky enough to have culturalinfusion join us for an incursion, to help us celebrate Lunar New Year! Miss Bonnie hosted and performed a beautiful traditional Chinese ribbon dance. We all watched in awe as Miss Bonnie twisted and twirled the ribbons in the air and around her body, accompanied by some calming traditional music. Then came the fun part, it was our turn! Each of us received a ribbon and together we learnt some traditional moves such as the rainbow, the dragon, and the wave. These big gross motor movements were broken down in stages so we could develop an understanding of how to cross our midlines and engage in bilateral movements with a prop in hand! Then came the time to put it all together. The looks of pure joy on our faces as we danced and twirled were priceless. The giggles and squeals of excitement were infectious and demonstrated positive engagement with the experience.
