Mid-Autumn (Moon) Festival
The Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Festival, is one of the most important traditional festivals observed in China. Considered a family period, the worship of the full moon and the eating of moon cakes are done in families.
The purpose of the festival is derived from the ancient Chinese worship of celestial bodies, such as the sun, moon and stars.
Historically, the moon and sun were thought to make a big difference to seasonal changes and agriculture, hence this veneration for nature. This important ritual in Chinese culture is therefore intended to celebrate the abundance of wealth.
To honour the essence of this festival, we have various immersive programs available to celebrate authentic Chinese culture:
• Chinese Lion Dance (VIC, QLD, NSW, ACT, WA)
• Chinese Martial Arts (VIC, QLD, NSW, ACT, WA)
• Chinese Calligraphy & Brush Ink Painting (NSW)
